Scrolling the mouse lets you to navigate through multiple pages without using scroll bars and Windows users can tweak the mouse settings as per their own preferences. The default value of mouse scroll speed is set to 3 lines. You can adjust the mouse scroll speed and set the number of screens moves for each movement of scroll wheel. If you are not satisfied with the default settings and want to change mouse scroll speed in Windows 10, you can opt multiple methods which we are going to explain in this blog post.
The advanced and performance conscious users always prefer to change mouse sensitivity. They can edit Windows Registry, tweak mouse settings in Control Panel or modify mouse properties to change scroll speed of mouse.
Change mouse speed and sensitivity in Windows 10 Using Settings
Launch the Settings and click on Devices icon.
Select “Mouse” option appearing on the left pane of the window. On the right pane, open the drop down menu under “Roll the mouse wheel to scroll”. You can notice two options there, one is “Multiple lines at times” and another is “One screen at a time”.
If you want to scroll multiple lines with each notch of scroll wheel, select the first option. This is the default setting.
There is a slider which helps you to set the number of lines to be scrolled each time. You can set it from 1 to 100. The default setting is 3 lines.
On the other hand, if you want to scroll one screen each time, select the second option under “Roll the mouse wheel to scroll”. This will speed up mouse scrolling.
Change the mouse speed and sensitivity in Windows 10 Using Mouse Properties
Open the Control Panel and tap on Mouse icon. In case you are not able to find mouse settings in Control Panel, type “Mouse” in the search field and the settings will appear.
Now switch to “Wheel” tab. Under the Vertical Scrolling section, you can see two options. If you want your mouse wheel to scroll multiple lines at a time, select the first option “The following number of lines at a time” and now select the number between 1 to 100. Hit OK button to apply changes.
You can select the second option “One screen at a time” if you want your mouse wheel to scroll one screen each time. Hit OK button to apply changes.
Change the mouse speed and sensitivity in Windows 10 Using Registry Editor
Press Win+R to launch Run app. Type regedit and press Enter key. The Windows Registry Editor will be opened.
Navigate the following path
Now scroll down the right pane of Desktop key until you find WheelScrollLines.
Double click on WheelScrollLines to enter the new value. If you want your mouse wheel to scroll multiple lines at a time, fill the value between 1 to 100 and press OK.
On the other hand if you want to increase mouse speed and want to scroll one screen each time, enter the value -1 and hit OK.
Standard Warning: It is recommended not to play with Windows Registry Editor unless or until you are aware of basics of this complex structure. Windows Registry contains all the default settings of the Computer system, misusing Registry may corrupt your Windows and make your PC unstable.
So we don’t suggest a fresher to use Registry editor. If you have some knowledge and stick to our instructions then there would be no problem but still we recommend you to take Windows Registry backup as well as the data of your PC before starting to use this trick.
