imageGoogle released new version of it’s free desktop photo organizer Picasa 3.5 few days back. The latest feature introduced by Google is a face recognition and ability to sync it with Picasa Web Albums.

A new sidebar menu list by the name of “People” is added. Picasa starts to scan your entire drive for photos which have peoples in them, the photos of landscapes objects and very smartly skipped. Similar photos are group for you, which you can tag with name like “Me”, “Uncle” “My Daughter” etc. once you have named Picasa tries to add photos with similar faces to the group. You are provided with photos to approve them. For my laptop Picasa took 3 hours to completely scan my hard drive.

Create Desktop background Collage with grouped photos.

To create a background select group from “peoples” menu and click Collage button below.


On Collage page click Page Format and select you current display resolution for making a perfect desktop background collage.


You can rearrange pictures according to your choice.

The made Collage is by default saved in “My Documents\My Pictures\Picasa\Collages” location below is the end result of Collage made by me.
