Microsoft is set to release a patch for a critical vulnerability in PowerPoint. This vulnerability affects Microsoft Office 200,2003,2007,XP. This hole can be exploited by sending a Powerpoint file specially made for attacking computer. When the file is opened by the user Powerpoint will access and invalid object in memory and then allows an attacker to remotely execute code on to the system. This vulnerability was first found in April. The exploit is not so widely spread. The vulnerability cannot be exploited automatically through e-mail. For an attack to be successful a user must open an attachment that is sent in an e-mail message.
