After officially releasing Service Pack 1 for Windows 7 & Windows Server 2008 R2 to MSDN and Technet subscribers and Microsoft’s steadyfast volume licensing customers, Microsoft has made Windows 7 SP1 available to general public.
Win7 SP1 is mostly collection of update and patches released earlier by Microsoft on monthly Patch Tuesday. It does not includes much changes in terms of performance and features.
Although Windows 2008 R2 SP1 has some new features in it’s bag like Virtualization technologies, Dynamic Memory and RemoteFX.
If you have already installed any beta or release candidate(RC) version of Win7 Service Pack 1, you’ll need to uninstall the earlier version before installing the final release.
You may also encounter an error message if you have previously installed specific hotfixes (983534, 979350, 2406705) installed. To fix this error you may have to reinstall these updates. To get more details follow Microsoft official page to fix this error.
