Android Oreo-based OxygenOS 5.0 is being rolled out to OnePlus 3 and 3T smartphones. The first official Oreo build brings all the features that were experienced from the Open Beta update released last month. OxygenOS 5.0 update contains the September security patch.
Unfortunately, OnePlus 5 & 5T users are using OxygenOS based on Android Nougat and have to wait until next year to get the latest Android Oreo stable update.
The Open Beta program aims to check the reliability of the product and get feedback from the users in order to prepare more stable products. On the other hand, the latest OxygenOS 5.0 release is the stable update.
With the OxygenOS 5.0 update, you can notice the changes and additions in System as well as the Launcher. Here are some highlights of major features:
- Update to Android Oreo (8.0)
- Added Parallel Apps
- Added Picture-in-Picture feature
- Added Auto-fill
- Added Smart text selection
- New Quick Settings design
- Updated security patch to September
- Added notification dots
- New app folder design
- Now able to upload photos directly to Shot on OnePlus
For the time being, a small percentage of OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T smartphone users will get OxygenOS 5.0 OTA but hopefully, the rest of users will receive update soon.
As per the Android Police reports, some of the European users have already received OxygenOS 5.0 update on their OnePlus 3/3T phones. It shows that the first rollout has been starts from Europe and will hit the smartphones of other regions in the next rollout.
If you own OnePlus 3 or OnePlus 3T smartphone you can check the available update manually by navigating Settings app. If you don’t get OxygenOS 5.0 update, either you need to wait for your turn or you can use Virtual Private Network and set your location Germany to get OxygenOS 5.0 OTA without any delay.
