Reliance Jio has decided to update Jio’s tariff plans as TRAI advised to withdraw the Summer Surprise scheme offering complementary services for 3 months. The updated & exciting tariff plans will help to attract new subscribers as well as existing ones.
Despite of complaints from incumbent operators, Reliance Jio managed to provide free Internet and calling services for the long period and after the termination of Happy New Year offer, 72 million out of 100 million subscribers are enrolled as paid customers. This shows that Jio is dominating due to overwhelming plans and satisfactory services.
Mukesh Ambani stated:
“I assure you that Jio will always be obsessed with serving you and delighting you every day. Jio Prime members will always get the very best of what Jio has to offer.”
When Reliance Jio initiated its free services, most of the subscribers were not satisfied as the giant operators blocked the calls of Jio on their network. But as the time passed, the calling and Internet services got improved. Consequently, a huge number of customers agreed to pay Rs. 99 as a membership fees for the whole year and Rs. 303 monthly for calling & Internet services (1 GB per day).
Sudhir Gupta, TRAI secretory asked the Reliance Jio to explain how this Summer Surprise offer fits in the framework of regulatory but the operator didn’t have appropriate answer to satisfy him. Then Reliance Jio has accepted the advice of TRAI and started the process to setback the Summer Surprise offer.
The incumbent operators might be comfortable after hearing the decision of TRAI but still the announcement from Reliance Jio about revising the tariff plans put them into trouble.
